Candidates and causes are bound by the City's Zoning Ordinance and applicable state law related to where and when signs and expressive activities can take place near a polling location.
Please report your concerns about sign placement to the City's Zoning Office. Please note that the Voter Registrar's Office does not enforce sign placement in the City.
Virginia Beach City buildings and work areas are to be used to conduct City business. The City has established codes, ordinances and directives to reduce the potential for disrupting City business during the election process.
These regulations are in addition to state laws, and are to be applied evenly, regardless of message and are not meant to limit public expression. Regulations apply to signs and expressive activities (see definitions below).

Candidates and causes are bound by the City’s Zoning Ordinance and enforced through Zoning in the City’s Planning Department. Campaign staff should understand and follow specific guidelines detailed in these applicable ordinances and laws:
